No Internet When Power is Out

So, your generator may be providing power to your modem, but whatever device that normally provides the signal to your modem may not have power.  Hence, no network signal to your modem and no internet.

The outside cable plant / infrastructure is supposed to have pole-mounted backup batteries. Perhaps they aren't being maintained ?

Yep, but don't hold your breath....

FWIW, they supposedly have mobile gas-powered generators that the can hook up to. 

Yes, I didn't know how that worked. I thought they would have a backup natural gas generator. The battery makes more sense. Is this something that I can call in and let them know?

Just had the same thing happen in Naples, FL this past Wednesday.  FPL had a widespread outage and TV and Internet went down as well.   We have UPS and Generator for the whole house but it sounds like xfinity does not have proper power backup on repeaters or other equipment.  Sad if you have phone service fail as well....
