No guest xfinitywifi SSID being broadcast from XB7-T even though public hotspot is enabled.
I have a new XB7-T that was installed last week. I even installed some pods to extend coverage. I have both my 2.4ghz and 5ghz as one SSID, however there's no guest xfinitywifi being broadcast.
I have it enabled in the settings. I turned it off and back on and even waited well over the 24hrs it suggested. But still no guest network being broadcast.
Could it be because i have the xfi pods ? or is there something else going on ?
I'd prefer to have any guests join the guest network rather than my home network. So keen to get this going.
I called tech support, on Friday, and they said someone will call me back within a day. But no call back. So i'm here instead.

They do not offer a guest network feature. The additional xfinitywifi public hotspot broadcast is intended to be used as a guest network.

perhaps you mis-understood me. i know it won't be called 'guest' but its to be treated as my 'guest' network.
My problem is i can't see it. the xfinitywifi is not being broadcast.

Yep. My bad, sorry.
Have you first tried power-cycling / re-starting the device ? No joy ? Try hard resetting the device to factory defaults by pressing and holding in the recessed reset button on the rear for 30 seconds. This can sometimes clear up some weird behavior issues. You will lose any customized settings, and they will need to be re-configured from scratch if you do the latter.

i did try restarting the modem, via pulling the plug and by resetting it through the XFi app. Neither seemed to help. I could do a hard reset. Maybe tomorrow morning when i don't have my kids gaming online. I do have a different gateway IP address and range, and the DHCP range is custom set, as i run a few static IP's in my home network.. But other than that i can't think of anything else that i've configured.
When i plugged in the XB7-T which was an upgrade to the XB6, it did automatically port in my settings which must be stored against my account. So perhaps that's where it got itself mixed up. Mind you, who's to say it won't just grab the settings again.
Maybe i'll call xfinity again tomorrow and see if they can see anything remotely on their end before going in for the hard reset.
thanks i'll keep this thread updated.
