nighthawk mesh wi fi set up

i am trying to extend my wi fi range as to get a blink camera set up to work. installed a netgear

nighthawk mesh wi fi 6 system/ax1800.

 xfinity upgraded my modem /router to there top one cgm4331com. but that did not increase range.

my qeustion is , i hooked up mesh system but did not enable  the bridge mode on the gateway router. should this be done?  

  found information on comcast site about doing this.
