Next Gen Speeds

Hi there,

I'm not seeing the speeds that are advertised on my package. 2k down and 200 up. I understand my limitation on the upload due to my S33, but I don't get close to 2K down, and the download is my main concern.

Can someone confirm this speed is available in my service area or possible next steps to resolve? Possible Boot File issue? Thanks in advance!

You must use a compatible modem. What happens when trying to get speeds that a device is not capable of delivering is that it defaults to using an even slower speed tier configuration file. You need a compatible device, or downgrade your speed plan again.

I was under the impression the S33 was compatible with those download speeds, just not the upload speeds. Is that not correct?

It's not compatible with their Next Gen / mid split speeds. See this list;

https://www.xfinity.com/support/internet/customerowned .

Scroll down to "See all Modems". Then scroll down to "Compatible Modems For Enhanced Speeds".

Their XB6, XB7, and XB8 rented gateway devices are also compatible.

@BeeCore

Thanks for reaching out to us,  the information that @EG provided is accurate. Since it's not compatible with our next generation speeds, you're going to have difficulty reaching your download or upload speeds. If you're on one of our newer plans as of June 26 the Xfinity modems do come included for free.

Thank you both. I did stop by a physical  location to pick up an XB10, but they said they couldn’t give it to me because my area is scheduled for EPON within 6 months. Hopefully by then the XER10 will have a bridge mode. Lots of chatter about that right now. I hope you both have a wonderful New Years Eve/ New Year!

@BeeCore

You are welcome, the XB10 is currently only available to the customers that are getting the symmetrical speeds, So the XB8 modem would be the latest modem available.
