New MB8611 - lots of Corrected and Uncorrected errors

Hi all,

I just installed a new MB8611 modem and i'm seeing lots of Corrected and Uncorrected errors, any suggestions?

I have the 300/10 plan and i'm only seeing low to mid 100s of download speed.

Thank you in advance!

May be worth chatting up Customer Service to see whats going on with signal.

To understand more about the issue is the device tested speed on directly behind the Gateway? Ethernet or WIFI?

Just my .2 cents.

Thanks and good luck.

Hi, @user_2a038e. I know that speed issues are the worst and we can definitely look further into the signal your modem is reporting, as well as check the lines coming to your home for any known issues. If you are still experiencing trouble, please send us a direct message with your full name and address to get started.

To send a Direct Message:

Ensure you are logged in

  • Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3H7M0xm
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
    • As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
    • An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it.

@user_2a038e

There are some downstream channels that have low / out of spec SNR values. It appears that there may be some noise ingress into the line(s) somewhere.

That can cause random disconnects, spontaneous re-booting of the modem, speed, packet loss, latency problems, and the un-bonding of channels.

In an effort to try to obtain better connectivity, check to see if there are there any excess/unneeded coax cable splitters in the line leading to the modem that can be eliminated/re-configured. Any splitters that remain should be high quality and cable rated for 5-1000 MHz, bi-directional, and no gold colored garbage from Radio Shack, Home Depot, Target, etc. Splitters should be swapped with known to be good / new ones to test.

Also check the coax cable for any damage such as cuts, nicks, kinks, sharp bends, etc.

If there aren't any unneeded splitters that can be eliminated and if your coax wiring setup can't be reconfigured so that there is a single two-way splitter connected directly off of the drop from the street / pole with one port feeding the modem and the other port feeding the rest of the house/equipment with additional splits as needed and you've checked all the wiring and fittings for integrity and tightness and refresh them by taking them apart then check for and clean off any corrosion / oxidation on the center wire and put them back together again, then perhaps it's best to book a tech visit to investigate and correct.

Good luck with it !
