New Install - Slow internet speed

Hi Everyone,

It was alot of work but finally got it done. We never had cable. Comcast/Xfinity subcontractor installed new "875" cable underground to the house. A tech today ran the wire from the pedestal into the house and hooked up a modem. We were told that because we had this new big fat wire that high speeds up to 1G were possible.

We signed up for the 200Mbps plan. I just did a speed test from the xfinity website and it varies from 90-120. About 1/2 of the speed we were supposed to get and obviously higher speeds not possible.

So woop-T-doo. Alot of fanfare for speeds we were already getting from starlink.

Is there any way to get higher speeds? Being a new install with all new wire and modem you'd think it would work - well - like new!

I watched the gigabit video and troubleshooting tips that are above. Signal levels fall withing the normal range for both up and down. No errors in any of the modem logs. Verified my equipment is gigabit (and connected as gigabit). No firewall or virus software.

With Starlink I would occasionally see 170.

Modem is ARRIS TG1682G

Using hard wired connections on all my computers.

Today the problem may be solved. Speed has increased to 175 today. So without me doing anything the speed is much improved. Still not the 200 of my plan but I'm happy with 175.
