New home, self install kit, no ethernet

We just moved in to a new home (built 2014), got the self install kit and are leasing a modem/router.  We have set it up and wifi is working great for laptops and Roku but we're not able to get ethernet to the desktop.  There are ethernet ports pretty much in every room, so the house is all wired for it, it's just not turned on or something?  Techs aren't coming into homes right now, understandably.  Is this something we can do if we could get a tech on the phone maybe?

Ethernet wires usually connect to a switch. Perhaps the previous owner took the switch and you just have a bunch of unconnected wires in a closet?

You need someone like Geek Squad or an individual, techs aren’t going to troubleshoot your house wiring since you’ve already proved your modem is working. Follow the wiring in your house and see what’s missing.
