new data cap question

I was told by a work mate who also is working from home that if you have the gig plan then the cap is removed. I have the gig plan yest I got a 75% cap warning last night, So what is the story. Are they wrong ?

Sad to say, there are two "Gigabit" plans:

  • "Gigabit Pro", not widely available, is delivered over a fiber optic connection, runs at 2 Gbps upstream and down, and has no cap.
  • "Gigabit" service delivered over DOCSIS and coax cable runs at 1 Gbps downstream and 35 Mbps upstream, and is subject to the 1.2 TB cap.

See the "What's the 1.2 Terabyte Internet Data Usage Plan?" link on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/data-usage-plan.

I beleive that is true only for "gigabit pro" which is a full fiber optic to the home/building service. (Whoops, Bruce beat me and I don't see a delete.)

Thamks to you both, Looks Like I will need to upgrade for $30 or just not use outlook which is the culprit in my case.

Thanks. We use O365. I switched to the webmail for now.  When we were on our own exchange I used the webmail as well since I would constanstly lose my connection. I don't send/recieive extragant amounts of mail so not sure why this would be the issue. Working for an MSP  we are heavily reliant on email. I might try removing and readding my account but not in the middle of my shift.

xfinity is doing everything to add more aggravations to customers especially to those who live in places where they don’t have no choice like me ... don’t know what contract they have on our municipality that other provider can get in to service us (provider with some internet speed like fios etc) starting this 1/2021 they putting a 1.2tb data cap ... oh yea thanks for waiving the overages fee of $10 every 50gb the next 2months after that what? and if we want no worries extra $30+tax for real unlimited data.

and for the past months looking at my data history we never went over that cap and all of a sudden that they’re starting this cap we went over and still a week before reset?????

i cant wait to leave comcast if only i have i choice but kids are still in virtual school and we are working at home too and need a good internet speed.... is there any way we can donto stop this??? is comcast allow to put cap on data when they said its unlimited when you started your contract????
