network unstable

Hi All:

When I connect to xfinity cable modem, the network is unstable, when I access internet, I find out the network is unstable, I try to send icmp packet, some of packets will be dropped.

I try to access youtube, it will take 20 seconds, I disable wireless connection and enable again, it will go smoothly for 10 minutes, after that, it will access slow again.

Is there any diagnose tool for testing network stable or not? or someone from xfinity can come to my community to take look this issue?

After calling to Xfinity Customer service, they help me to reset/re-active my cable modem, it works good right now.

For a test, does a computer / device that is hardwired directly to the router / gateway device with an ethernet cable have the same problem ?

With this test, we are trying to isolate this down to being either a WiFi-only problem or a problem with the general connection to the Comcast system which would of course affect both. It's a good first step of troubleshooting before proceeding any further.

Hi @EG:

Yes, I have some IoT devices such as security system, doorbell and cameras, those of them have same issue, I always can receive Push notification from them described "Offline" and after few minutes, I receive "Online" message, It can be all day.

I also has some mobile devices such as iPhone, android phone and laptops, when I open browser or outlook, I can see the error messages described: outlook cannot connect to server right now, please try again later.

I also need to access VPN for working but If I connect to VPN, I cannot access external web site.

Could you please clarify ? Your answer doesn't really clearly answer the question of whether or not hardwired devices are having the same problem.
