Network Performance Issue – Severe Packet Loss in Backbone Node
Hello,
I'm experiencing significant network performance issues, including high latency and intermittent connectivity. I performed a pathping
diagnostic to identify the source, and it appears there is severe packet loss occurring within the Comcast backbone infrastructure.
Below is a summary of the results:
Local Network (Hops 1–6): 0% packet loss
Hop 8 – 96.110.43.121 (be-33632-cs03.56marietta.ga.ibone.comcast.net): 97% packet loss
All downstream nodes after Hop 8 are impacted, confirming this hop is likely the cause of performance degradation.
Here is the relevant portion of the pathping:
Hop RTT Lost/Sent = Pct Address
8 201ms 97/100 = 97% be-33632-cs03.56marietta.ga.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.43.121]
9 --- 100/100 = 100% be-2311-pe11.56marietta.ga.ibone.comcast.net [96.110.32.30]
Please investigate this node and let me know if there's any maintenance or routing issue that could be causing the packet loss.
Thank you,
TA

Hello Troy3977, it's a pleasure to work with you, and I appreciate you providing so much detail in your post. It's never ideal to have connection issues, so I can only imagine what it's been like for you. I feel like everything in my house connects to my network, so I'll do all I can to help. We'll first need to look into your local connection prior to expanding to the local node. Are you seeing these connection issues on all of your devices or just one in particular? Also, is this over Wi-Fi, ethernet, or both types of connections?
