Netgear NightHawk CM2000 Not Getting Over 942 Mbps
Hello - I have the 1.2 GB package with xFinity and I purchased a CM2000 to get the full speed as my old modem capped out at 942 Mbps. I hooked up the CM2000, activated it through the xFinity app but I am still getting 942. I have rebooted the modem several times and the modem appears online in the xFinity app. I am wondering if there is something else that needs to be done - at the box / central - to boost me up to the 1.2 max?

What device is the modem connected to? If a router or an Ethernet adapter is only capable of or configured for 1 Gbps, then 940 Mbps or so is the speed we would expect to see. If the device is capable of and configured to connect at 2.5 Gbps then there is a problem somewhere.

Does the computer you're using for the speed tests have an Ethernet card capable of reaching 1.200 Mbps? If you're utilizing a Wi-Fi router, it also needs to support speeds of 1,200 Mbps. The majority of computers come equipped with gigabit network adapters. 942 mbps seems to be the cap for gigabit adapters, thus my questions.

I really appreciate the quick responses. I think both of you answered my question as everything I have tried connecting to the modem only has a 1GB ethernet port. I was hoping to hit the 1GB speed at least but if it caps at 942 then I am stuck. While I don't need the speed, I would like to think I can get the speed I am paying for. Thanks for your responses.

Just a follow up to this post - I am running an Orbi RBK850 Mesh Router / Satellite system in my home. Netgear just released, in the past month or so, a firmware upgrade which I installed last night. Surprisingly, my download speed is now hitting around 960 Mbps and my upload speed also saw a minor increase from around 41 to 43 Mbps. Thanks again for everyone's responses.

I upgraded all my gear (based on reccomendations from this forum) Modem to a Netgear CM2000, Router to a Asus GTX-AX6000 ,my ethernet PCI card to a TPlink 2.5gb and all new CAT8 cabling interconnected devices; and now I am getting over 1300MBPs. Although upload speed capped out at 41, waiting for them to juice us up with the bigger upload speeds...
The main thing is to ensure all ports are capabable of multi gig speeds...

Joined this forum specifically to say that the problem is QOS is ON when using the 5gb port. Even when it says it's off. To fix this problem I downloaded the latest firmware, held the reset button for 10 seconds to allow the router to come back to factory specs. Set the router up again. turned ON QOS upload in settings > advanced > QoS setup. Then turned them off. Boom! problem solved. I have the full throughput now and using ethernet (LAN) aggregation with my CM2000 to my RAX120 to my Managed (do NOT plug an unmanaged switch into the RAX120) switch I now have 1.4gbps speeds!
My understanding is that this was a bug with the base firmware that never went away with the latest revisions.
