What's the model number of the Netgear device ?
It is a cm1150v
Correct. I have Google mesh WiFi as my router. The problems are many. I have as Apple time capsule and can't get it to work under this setup, and then when I upgraded Comcast from Blast 200 to 1000, and then installed the new modem getting rid of the Comcast one, they cancelled my triple play package, with voip, and premium channels now dead. A big mess and they can't fix it until service guy comes Wed.
That's a straight cable modem with phone support. There is no built-in router component. Comcast supplies only one public IP address to it with a residential service, so only one ethernet port will work. You need to use a stand-alone router with it for your home networking / WiFi needs.
FWIW, you need to power cycle/re-boot the modem each and every time that you change the device that is being directly connected to it in order for that device to be able to get an internet connection.
Have done that several times. I'm thinking about getting an enternet hub as the Google wifi only has 2 ports and I need one more to tie in the apple time capsule. I think that will work to give it an internet signal. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help!
