NETGEAR CM2050V and higher upload speeds/Firmware update

Hi Everyone,

I have seen all the threads before on this.

Simple question, is there any update on getting the firmware fixed so many of us who own this modem can get the benefits of the higher enhanced speeds with Xfinity ? I posted the same question on the Netgear forum ?

thanks

Awesome question user_p02y4g Unfortunately, there is no way to provide a timeline or estimate regarding those updates. The CM2050V is supported for X2 speeds. We keep a very easily to navigate document that gets updated when changes are made. You can save this link here to reference the available options for the various tiers. The 2050V is the only device currently that is supported as an EMTA for Xfinity Voice.

Hi XfinityThomasB,

so, wait, is the CM2050V now working for the higher X2 speeds ?  ie. 2GB down/200MB up ?

This would be indeed awesome since as you note, it also supports EMTA for xfinity voice

can you please advise again , just really trying to confirm

Cna you please share the firmware version supported now by xfinity to be really sure ?

thanks

I just noticed, the version you posted is from Sep 2023. I think there is a new version that does not show the CM2050V on the recommended list

The enhanced upload speed is not compatible with the 2050V, only the download speeds would be. We do not have a current timeline of when the enhanced would be available for that device. For this situation, in the future, you would just want to reference the link I provided above, that details the supported speeds. The link I provided details the 2050V supports up to 455 Mbps on the upload.

user_p02y4g There are actually two device sections in the document, if you scroll down and look at the second section, you will see the CM2050V listed. It has the same speeds listed as the previous doc.

I just today, November 26, 2024, spoke to a level 2 tech at Netgear.  He said that the techs @ NexGear last said the firmware would be ready to release to Comcast late October or Early November.  He then admitted it is late November, and he will get back to me with an update.  I guess that is an update?

Awesome ! Thank you for the update ! I am thinking of using the voice ports as well on the cm2050V. Originally I was thinking just getting the cm3000 but it is missing the voice ports

@mike-d2 , do post back if you hear back from Netgear. I think I am going to hold off on getting the CM3000 for now
