Netgear CM1150V vs. ARRIS T25

I recently upgraded the speed of my xfinity Internet service, but I need to purchase a new cable modem to realize the full potential speed. I'm considering two modems, both of which are compatible with the xfinity network, including:

  1. Netgear CM1150V
  2. ARRIS T25

I'd welcome any feedback on these two devices, so I can make an informed purchasing decision. Thanks in advance.

Assuming you need a new modem anyway and that you need voice service, either should work. Xfinity always likes ARRIS (that's what they usually rent you). I currently use a Netgear CM500V which is only DOCSIS 3.0 but works up to about 600 Mbps. Xfinity will tell you that you need a DOCSIS 3.1 modem for that speed but I convinced them that it will work and it does.
But if you want the 1 Gig speed or want to future proof so you can upgrade to that speed, then you do need DOCSIS 3.1.
At the current time, both are about the same price. You can get the ARRIS T25 for $199 at Target. The Netgear CM1150V is $194.97 at Amazon.

Let me know how it works out.

Thanks for the comments.  You explained the two very clearly.

Thanks for the guidance on the ARRIS T25 and Netgear CM1150V cable modems. I currently have an ARRIS TM822, but my download speeds max out around 250 Mbps, even though my service plan includes download speeds up to 600 Mbps, which is why I'm considering buying a new one.

Either of those should work fine. By the way, you probably won't get upload speeds faster than about 15 to 20 mbps. Comcast only advertises 12 to 15 mbps at the 600 mbps plan. On the gigabit plan it says "up to 35 mbps". Although, what you will actually get depends a lot on the quality of your particular cable segment, how busy it is, etc. But unless you are doing multiple video chats, 12 to 15 should be fine. I typically get about 18 when the cable is unloaded. Drops down to 10 or so when busy.
