Neighborhood-wide intermittent internet drops after Xfinity maintenance

I need help escalating a recurring neighborhood-network issue to the local network maintenance/outside-plant team. Xfinity performed maintenance/upgrades on September 10, 2026, followed by a near-full-day outage. Since September 11, service has repeatedly dropped for 1–2 minutes across laptops, phones, tablets, TV, apps, and websites.

A technician visited September 20 and replaced the gateway, but the drops continue. The technician said multiple neighbors are experiencing the same issue and that neighborhood hardware or wiring associated with the September 10 work is likely. Repeating modem resets and in-home Wi-Fi troubleshooting has not resolved it.

Please have an official Xfinity employee contact me privately and escalate investigation of the node, tap, amplifier, neighborhood lines, and any equipment changed on September 10. I also need a ticket/reference number, expected follow-up, written confirmation, and review of outage/degraded-service credits, any technician charges, and an appropriate courtesy credit. I work from home, and the instability is materially disruptive. Please do not request private account details in this public thread.

I also have the same issue.  Had a technician come out last week (for a $100 charge).  He was here for 30 minutes and "fixed" something outside, said we should be all set now and I have had continuous issues with disconnecting and reconnecting since he was here.  I will be fighting the technician charges and Verizon is coming tomorrow for connection.  I work from home and it's beyond impossible when I'm connected with an Ethernet cable, not wireless, and have that issue!  Good luck on your venture!

I’m sorry—you’re describing something very similar to what I experienced. The fact that it affects a wired Ethernet connection and multiple activities makes it important to document this as a service/network issue, not merely Wi-Fi troubleshooting.

Here’s what I recommend:

  1. Create your own forum post so Xfinity can associate the investigation with your address, then privately message “Xfinity Support” with your full name and service address. Don’t post that information publicly.

  2. State clearly that the problem occurs over Ethernet, continued after outside work, and affects gaming and normal connectivity. Include the date of the technician visit and the approximate times of every subsequent drop.

  3. Ask for escalation to the local field/network/outside-maintenance team to inspect the node, tap, amplifier, neighborhood lines, and any recently changed equipment.

  4. Request the escalation or ticket number, the team receiving it, and the expected follow-up date—in writing.

  5. Dispute the $100 technician charge in writing. Ask Xfinity to identify what authorized the charge and provide any appointment messages or screenshots showing what you were told about cost.

  6. Request prorated service credits for the affected dates and an additional courtesy credit for the repeated disruption and support contacts.

  7. Before accepting another technician appointment, ask Xfinity to confirm in writing whether it will be free and why another in-home visit is necessary when the symptoms also occur over Ethernet.

  8. If ordinary support does not resolve it, file Comcast’s formal Notice of Dispute and an FCC consumer complaint, attaching your timeline, ticket numbers, charge documentation, and screenshots.

In my case, persistent escalation ultimately produced written confirmation that an intermittent issue affected multiple network segments following network work. Xfinity also reversed the disputed $100 technician charge. Your underlying cause may be different, but getting everything documented and insisting on network-level investigation made the difference.

Good luck, and keep copies of every message and ticket number.
