This comes up quite a bit for Xfinity gateways. For whatever reason, they decided WiFi 6 was a good default setting. Unfortunately, there's a lot of gear out there that requires 2.4Ghz 802.11b, so these devices won't see the WiFi signal at all.
You can't change what Xfinity calls "WiFi modes" by logging into the gateway anymore . You can only control the gateway with the phone app. You are really changing the protocol and WiFi standard the radio uses. If you don't use a phone or other device that can run their app, I guess you are out of luck.
Since Xfinity refuses to provide a manual for their gateways, OR their phone app, it would be really helpful to a lot of folks if someone using their rental equipment could take some screenshots of the process and take a few notes on it. Perhaps the mods can then "Pin" the topic as they did with the internet troubleshooting and email links. I do not use their rental gear.
The app may change over time, but at least it would be current for now and show folks how to do it. Anyone game for taking screen shots??
@user_4f7b3b Thank you for reaching out about splitting your Wi-Fi networks. Using the Xfinity app, if you go under the Wi-Fi tab you should see an option to "View Wi-Fi Bands". If you select this and then select your network name you should seee an option to split networks.

With the phone app, Change WiFi modes, and assign different broadcast names (SSID name) to the 2.4Ghz and 2.5Ghz signals. This web page may be of some use to explain the general idea, but it's really dated: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/change-wifi-mode-admin-tool-xfinity-xfi
