Need to move Router to the second floor of home.
Years ago when I first received Xfinity Internet the line was installed in the basement and this is where the router is located.. The house has 3 floors. The wifi signal has never been good to the top floor. I purchased a better Netgear Router/Modem and the signal is better than it was with the old Xfinity router but still is under 100 mpbs where it is in the 230 mpbs range on the first and second floor. The router/modem probably needs to be moved to the second floor as all our devices and roku's or on the second and third floors. Can Xfinity move this and is it covered in the wire protection plan. Thanks for any help.

If you have a live coax feed / wall outlet(s) in the room(s) on the second floor, you can move it yourself.

Thanks, I do have a coax feed on the second floor. So all I have to do is run a splitter off that feed and one to the cable box and one to the router.?? This is how it is set up in the basement and the wire running to the box is black and the one running to the router is white and appears to be a little larger

That should be ok. It's possible you might have a signal issue particularly if you end up with more splitters between the modem and outside line or happen to have a dodgy run of coax, but it should be fine. I'd certainly try it.
If you try it and it's still not good enough you could also look into one of those mesh kits. Of course the highest performance WiFi solution is one of those mesh kits or commercial access points with all the WiFi nodes wired to the router, but that involves pulling cable so most people think of it as a last resort. I did it but my house is a 60'x24' 1-story with a converted attic and an unfinished basement, so I just put 2 access points on the first floor and pulled cable through the unfinished basement and up to wall plates.

Thank you. When I move my Router/Modem combo from the basement to the second floor I will be using a cable currently running into my Xfinity TV box on the second floor. I will attach that cable to a splitter with one cable running to the TV Box and the other to my router modem. If it doesn't work I can always place it all back the way it was. (I hope) Thanks again.
