NAS with Xfinity Gateway?
I want to add a NAS for remote data access and backups for a PC and MacBook, as well as mobile devices. I’m considering the Synology or UGreen, but am open to other brands if they work well with the Xfinity network. I also have a Linksys mesh if that makes a difference.

Thank you for choosing Xfinity and for joining us here on the Forums, user_3jeokm. If anyone’s deciding between using their own equipment or an Xfinity Gateway, I alwaays recommend going with the Xfinity Gateway for the best overall experience. It combines both the modem and router into one device, which helps cut down on clutter and makes setup and troubleshooting much simpler.
Gateway devices are designed to deliver strong, reliable WiFi coverage throughout the home. And if you have a larger space or run into dead zones, you can easily pair the gateway with Xfinity WiFi Extenders (Pods) to create a seamless mesh network.
Another advantage is that the gateway includes Xfinity Advanced Security at no extra cost. This service monitors your network in real time and helps block threats like malware, phishing attempts, and unsafe sites—providing extra protection for all your connected devices.
If you prefer to use your own equipment, that’s totally fine too. Just be sure to check the My Device Info website to confirm that your equipment is compatible with the Xfinity network.
