My plan is 1GB upload and 1GB download... that's not what I'm actually getting
My 1GB / 1GB plan is only getting 40mb/s upload, not the 1GB I'm paying for. The download is only 900mb/s, not 1GB. I'm connected directly to the modem via Ethernet on a very fast computer.

Hello, @user_umisww how are you? When you log into the Xfinity app does it confirm you have symmetrical service at 1GB/1GB?
