My new XB6 Gateway

My new XB6 gateway has a fan that is constantly running and making a low humming noise. Is this normal or should I return the gateway? I've seen this question from a couple of years ago but that is the most recent. I wanted to get a more recent answer.  Thanks

@user_lgbb8r Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. I can understand the concern, is the gateway feeling hot to the touch? Are you experiencing any service issues with the gateway?

Thanks for taking a look at my inquiry. I have not experienced any service issues and the gateway is not hot to the touch. My concern is that there are many devices with fans but I have so far never known a fan to stay on constantly. I think I had my previous modem for several years. If I have the current one for several years would it be normal for the fan to be on that long?

@user_lgbb8r, you're certainly welcome! It is normal for the fan to be on consistently. However, if you feel it is too loud we can certainly swap it out free of charge at an XFINITY store or via shipping. Just let us know!
