My Arris SB8200 Showing Green Downstream light all of a sudden

All,

Yesterday I noticed that all my modem lights are green (including my downstream light).

Before, downstream light used to be blue (suggesting that it was connected to DOCSIS 3.1.

I'm not sure why all of a sudden it shows green light.  I try re-starting the modem. When it restarts, downstream light will show blue, but will only last for about 2 to 5 minutes, then reverts back to green light.

I have XTREME Pro service with up to 600MB/s down.  I do not have any issues with download and upload speeds as I get consistent around 700 UP and 23 DOWN.

Any suggestions as to why my modem does not show the blue downstream light anymore?

Blue is DOCSIS 3.1, Green is DOCSIS 3.0 I believe. If its working, let it bump!

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1

Please post the *Downstream Power Level*, the *Upstream Power Level*, and the *SNR* (Signal to Noise Ratio) numbers.

Yes. I know. Buy I am wondering if anyone knows why it went from blue to green since yesterday.

Hmmm... That's strange because the DOCSIS 3.1 channel shown below is indeed locked in. It should remain being blue. Perhaps it's just a glitch.

Yes. That is strange.  I rebooted the modem again and the blue downstream came back on and it stayed on so far........

I'll keep watching it...

Maybe Comcast was performing some service updates in my area or something....??.......

I wouldn't sweat it as long as everything is working properly and that *Other* DOCSIS 3.1 channel is being shown as "locked".

I have the same situation, the data transfer speeds are fine, after rebooting the modem the downstream is blue and then it turns green. I’d like to know what Comcast changed and why. This was a recent change. I plan to talk to me of their service technicians when I see one in the field (a real one, not an install contractor) and try to get a real answer. I know phone technical support from the Philippines or wherever won’t be any help.

Comcast started rolling out a firmware update around Jan 26 or so. Some reported an odd error in the event log. It's possible the green light may be a new bug telling you it either has lost OFDM data, or briefly lost it but forgot to reset the light.

It is indeed buggy. If I loosen the coax to the point of creating errors, the light turns blue again and stays that way until it decides it's easier being green.
