Move modem from one room to another

I have a cable modem, which I have rented from Comcast/Xfinity for nearly 5 years, since I moved into my home.  The modem has always been located in one room in my home, but I now want to move it to another room.  However, none of the cable connectors in any of my other rooms seem to have connectivity (i.e. the modem won't connect).  My question is simple: should the cable connectors in the other rooms work?  No, I don't have cable TV at all in my home, so I've never had to try these other connectors.

You'll need to trace the coax cable back to the central point (usually near the main feed cable point of entry from the outside) to see if a splitter exists, and if that rooms' cable is connected to it.
