Motorola modem compatibility and possible manufacturer certificate compatibility issue?
I currently have a Motorola MG7315 modem/router and while researching a possible new modem, or perhaps just a new router for wifi coverage, I found information on Motorola's web site regarding a replacement program due a manufacturer certificate issue. My modem model is listed as one of the models with the issue and yet I've had no certificate problems with it and my Comcast connection has worked for several years with my current Motorola modem. On the Xfinity My Device info check web page, it shows my device is compatible and mentions nothing about an issue.
Does someone here know if there is a Motorola device issue I've just been fortunate to not encounter yet such that I should be replacing my modem or if I don't have any problems don't worry about it? Perhaps this issue was just applicable to a limited production batch of Motorola devices.
Here's the Motorola info:
https://www.motorolanetwork.com/pages/comcast-replacement-program
This web page states "Due to a manufacturer issue with the certificate on your equipment required for internet service, your current internet equipment is no longer compatible with the Comcast network.
To avoid a service interruption, please replace your Internet equipment as soon as possible. Please follow the instructions below to place your order for a replacement unit."
I asked Motorola support about this and they in turn are asking if I have something from Comcast about it, even though the info I found was on the Motorola website.
Thanks

Hmmm. My Motorola 7621 is listed on the page you linked and has the MAC prefix shown, but entering its MAC in the "Discount code or gift card" box on the Cart page produces "Unable to find a valid discount matching the code entered". If I proceed on to the Checkout page and enter the MAC in the "Discount code" box there I get "Enter a valid discount code".
Neither your your device nor mine are listed on https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/docsis-certification, and I've heard nothing from Comcast.
Hmmmmm!

Hello @user_f55ce5 and thank you for bringing your concern regarding the compatibility of your Motorola equipment to our attention here at the Xfinity Community Forums. As others in the thread have mentioned, and you yourself had confirmed through our device support page , if your device is listed as compatible and approved there should be no issue with continuing to use this third-party equipment for your Xfinity internet services.
It sounds like you have already spoken with the manufacturer as well, and at this time there appears to be no pressing problem requiring the modem to be replaced unless you would prefer to do so.
