I have a Motorola mg7550 that is a modem + router but when i tried to activate it i was told by the app that it was only a cable box. I don't understand

I figured it out. I had to use an ethernet cable on my laptop and activate everything manually through the admin page
FWIW the Xfi app is made to work with Comcast supplied equipment. It will have limited (if any) functioning with customer-owned. equipment.
That makes sense why i had that problem. Thanks for the explanation
