Motorola MB7621 no IPv6 address only IPv4

I have installed a Motorola MB7621 modem to replace the default Xfinity modem. The internet connection works fine.

According to the Xfinity support page the Motorola MB7621 does support IPv6 but for some reason I only get a IPv4 address. Some devices in my home require a iPv6 address therefore I need to change to a IPv6 address.
I have connected a WIFI router to the Motorola modem in which settings I can only choose IPv4. IPv6 is greyed out.

Has someone experienced similar issues and found a solution?

You can't expect to get an IPv6 address from the router if you can't select it. What is the exact make and model number of the router ? For a test. Do you get an IPv6 address assigned to a computer that is connected directly to the MB7621 cable modem {no router in the mix) ?

@EG Hi, took me a moment to get a Ethernet adapter to connect directly to the modem. Also directly connected to the MB7621 modem I do not get a IPv6 address. So I assume my WiFi router is not the problem as it cant get a IPv6 address from the modem.
The xfinity support team said IPv6 is supported so I am wondering a bit why I am ending up with only IPv4 as the modem can do IPv6.

Question on the side: the very friendly lady from xfinity support mentioned today that everything will move to DOCIS 3.1 by the end of the year. Would that mean that my modem will become useless with the change?
