Monitor Usage by Device

If my children are each setup with an xfinity profile and their individual phone, computer, TVs, etc. are assigned to each of them, how do I establish which child is using massive amounts of data?

Activity Tracking does not accomplish this.  The Activity Tracking is a joke and is entirely useless, incorrect, and misleading.

As a parent, I need to know which child and which device(s) is being used to for massive amounts of data.

How can I monitor device usage, not profile activity?

Edit/Addition: I'm not asking to know what site/URL is using data, but what device is using data.  This should not be a privacy/legal issue as insinuated by xFinity response in another post.

You can't with xfinity gear.  You can't even see how much data your own stuff is using.  This is something it just doesn't do.

You can with 3rd party gear.  You can get add-on parental controls that work too.  It's a different setup, different equipment.  Ditching cables boxes and replacing them with $25 streaming devices, or using built in smart TV functionality if they have that, so you can see them on the network from a central location.  Learning curve on your part.

I too need to monitor data usage by device OR profile.  The closest I can do is monitor "time connected to the internet" per profile.  HOW CAN I FIND DATA by device OR profile?

@user_8b5f7f   Some things can do that.  Something like this:  https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/captiveportal/configuration.html

pfsense community edition or opnsense are free.  Build it or buy a firewall appliance.  You'll need a dedicated box to run it if you make your own. Check out the hardware requirements first before you do that.

Could you please attempt the following steps for me on the Xfinity app?

Start Xfinity app

- Choose "Connect" at the bottom of the screen

- Click on your WiFi name

- Under WiFi details, click on "Advanced settings"

- Click on "Data usage"

- Monthly usage should appear.

I no longer work for Comcast.
