modem works in one room, but not another

My modem works great and internet service is as expected, in our living room.
However, I wanted to move my modem to another room, and the modem doesn't get a signal when I hook it up to the coaxial cable in there. I wanted to put it (and our router) closer to office.

Does only one coaxial work at a time?

Good afternoon @user_18cnft. It sounds like that outlet is not active in your home. Did you ever have the modem plugged in there?

No. They both have the ability to work simultaneously provided that they are both currently connected to a coax cable splitter. That outlet may not be connected. See if you can trace the line from that room back to a main splitter somewhere (if there actually is one) and see if you can reconnect the line to an empty port on it.
