Modem is pretty warm

Is it normal for these modems to be hot to the touch?  I've ignored mine since it was installed a few months ago but had to reset it due to weak wifi signal message on my tv, and discovered it is quite warm.  Made me nervous.

A common problem. The cooling fan is malfunctioning. There is no fix other than to get it swapped out for another. Take it to your local Xfinity store for the fastest option, or ship it back for free via UPS and have them ship you another one. You can even get *home pickup*.

Depends on what you mean by "warm". Most all electronics will be a bit warm. If it's almost too hot to touch, then there could be a fan or other cooling issue. You can often use those infrared forehead thermometers or similar infrared thermometer to check the temp.

Hey there user_qtc3pf the advice given by @EG is pretty spot on. Is the device in a shaded, elevated position and away from other electronic devices?
