Modem Gateway login

I am unable to login to the xfinity modem/router gateway at 10.0.0.1.  I have tried the standard admin/password, admin/admin, admin/"blank", and many other combos.  I have reset the modem via the recessed but on the back. 

I just spoke with customer support and they said they were unable to help. 

My goal is to disable the router side so that I can set up a mesh network.

If you are trying that via a WiFi connection, try it with a computer hardwired directly to the gateway with an ethernet cable.

That is correct. BTW, when you reset the device, are you holding in the reset button for at least 30 seconds with the device powered on ? That is what is needed for a full hard reset back to factory defaults.

Thanks for the suggestion. I connected with ethernet cable, turned off wifi on the computer...no luck signing in.  Customer service says I can call and they can disable Bridge mode remotely...but that's pretty inconvenient.

I have same issue - This doesn't reset the admin gateway login. I cannot access it and have reset 5x.
