MoCA Filter and Network Setup Inquiry
Hi,
I’m in the process of setting up a MoCA-based network in my townhome, and I have a few questions regarding the installation. Specifically:
-
Is there a point of entry (POE) MoCA filter already installed at the splitter going into my unit from the ISP side? (I cannot find any splitters in my unit)
-
If there is no POE MoCA filter installed, do I need to add one myself, and if so, where should it be placed in my setup (before or after my splitter from the coax wall outlet)?
I’m trying to ensure optimal signal for the MoCA adapters and avoid interference, but I want to make sure I’m not conflicting with any ISP equipment or setup.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

HunterhasaHart Apartments and single family homes have a completely different system of signal distribution. In a single family home, there is usually one drop running to the home which services the property. Apartments also receive an aerial or underground drop that ties, but that typically goes to a signal closet for the building or complex that splits the signal and directs that signal to the independent units. In apartments, the POE filter is just used to avoid crosstalk between X1 DVR's.
