MoCA 2.0 adapter connects to XB7 gateway but MoCA 2.5 adapter doesn't

Hi - I connected a MoCA bonded 2.0 adapter to a coax jack and it works well with my MoCA-enabled XB7 gateway, but the resulting speed via ethernet cable to my computer maxes out at around 450 mbps. I have 1200 mbps service, so I purchased a MoCA 2.5 adapter to get a faster speed, but this adapter won't even connect to the gateway.

I later noticed that the XB7 gateway says (via the admin tool) that it supports MoCA 2.0. I thought MoCA 2.5 is supposed to be backwards compatible, so I don't understand why it won't even connect.

Could the issue be an older splitter somewhere in my 30+ year-old house?

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hi there and welcome to Comcast @user_9f2484. Thank you so much for reaching out to us about your moca configuration. Here is a Diagram you can refer to https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/moca-setup-diagram-and-questions/60ab40ad55a9ae45811258c7. Now it could be that the lines in the home could be bad. Have you tried getting a technician out to your home to check your connection issues?

Hi -- I haven't had a technician come out. The issue is the MoCA 2.0 adapter connects but the MoCA 2.5 adapter doesn't...why would that indicate bad lines?

Could it be a splitter issue? What kind of splitters do I need to support the MoCA 2.5 adapter?

Thanks.

What model exactly is the MoCA 2.5 adapter?  You also may have to shut off MoCA protected Setup or MPS, it's not supported on MoCA 2.0.  I also wouldn't expect any speed difference using a 2.5 adapter in MoCA 2.0 mode.

@flatlander3 Hi -- The MoCA 2.5 adapter is a Motorola MM1025. The 2.0 adapter is the Motorola MM1000. Thanks.

@user_9f2484  Dunno.  Not much you can set and this is it for a manual:  https://www.motorolacable.com/documents/MM1025-QuickStart-revA.pdf .  If it's an option, I'd return it and just use the 2.0 adapter since that's all you are going to get with your XB7 and it works.

@user_9f2484 guess the other thing you could try is eliminate as many splitters as possible.  Only what you absolutely need.  And make sure what you do have is rated for 1600Mhz.  Maybe you have some marginal splitters.
