Mesh network drops when I move around

I just got a xfi gen2 pod to help coverage when in my basement.  I was dropping internet coverage on my phone when going into my basement - turning wifi on and off (on my phone) helps, but I am trying to avoid that.  I found this thread https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/iphone-and-xfinity-mesh-network-connectivity-issue-xfi-pods-iphone/6815a28d9ad3b0659f08afe5 that seems to deal with this exact same issue and tried to use the solution.  However, when I try to change the security type, the only security mode available in the dropdown is WPA2.  How can I get the “WPA3-Personal-Transition” to be available for my network?

user_ew86h2 Thanks for reaching out to us here with your concerns. You can enable "WPA3-Personal-Transition" by updating your settings inside the Xfinity App.

Steps to Enable WPA3-Personal-Transition:
  • Open the Xfinity app on your mobile device.
  • Tap the WiFi tab at the bottom of the screen.
  • Tap the WiFi details tile.
  • Tap Edit WiFi settings.
  • Select the drop-down menu for Security Mode and choose WPA3-Personal-Transition.
  • Tap Save.
  • Unplug your Xfinity Gateway (such as the XB8) for 30 seconds, then plug it back in to restart the device and apply the changes.

P:lease let me know if you have any trouble with the process.

@XfinityBrianH thanks for reaching out.  I have gone through those steps and the only choice in the dropdown is "WPA2".  There are no other values that appear and that I can choose.

@user_ew86h2, It may be because you have a legacy modem. What kind of modem do you use?

I have a Techniccolor xb7 v2.0 on firmware CGM4331COM_8.5p16s2_PROD_sey. I just got it from Xfinity about a year ago.

@user_ew86h2, thank you for clarifying, I appreciate it! I will need to pull up your account to investigate this further. If you could send our team a direct message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account, I'd be more than happy to look into this for you. Click "Sign In" (If necessary). Click the "Direct Messaging" Icon. Click the "Start New Conversation" (pencil and paper) icon. In the “To:” line, type "Xfinity Support". As you type, a drop-down list will appear. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list. An "Xfinity Support" graphic will replace the "To:" line. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window. Press Enter to send it. How to: Direct Message Within The Forum.
