Mesh Handoff Issues with Gen2 Pods

I have an XB7 and two Gen2 Pods in the house. The house is two story and consists on each floor of central building with one room and two wings on the left and right each with two rooms. I have a pod in each wing and both are getting good signal (according to the App), but I have real problems with handoff from one device to another, which means I often can not make or receive calls. Usually, on my iPhone is says XM Wifi, but if I move from room to room usually it will say roam to Xfinity Mobile (but we only have one bar in my area, so usually it does not connect) and sometimes says SOS Mode (iOS 16 feature). Once is has switched, it will not go back to XM Wifi, even if I stand next to the router or a POD and will not until I disconnect from WiFi or reboot the phone.

It is driving me crazy, I actually upgraded from Gen1 Pods because I hoped it would improve the issue, it is the same. The house is 2700sq ft.

Any ideas what I can do, I have moved the pods to various different locations but nothing seems to work. Again, the mobile app reports the connection to both pods is really good! We have a mix of iPhone 13 and 12 in the house, all have the same issue with either iOS 15 or 16.

Hello there @andrewmichie. Thank you so much for reaching out to us here via Forums! I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with your WiFi connection with your iPhones. Are you experiencing issues with any other devices at all?

Selena,

I think I have solved the problem for the time being.

I have two houses using Xfinity XB7 and Pods. Both homes have the same issue with Wifi Calling. Both homes are in areas with poor cellular reception (1 bar on an iPhone) and when you move from room to room the XM Wi-Fi at the top of the screen disappears and Xfinity Mobile replaces it and XM Wifi does not come back (some times it does later but not much use if you are on a call!) even though it has full WiFi strength. WiFi calling only works when XM WiFi is displayed and will not until disconnected (Airplane Mode) from the wifi, often this takes several tries or a restart. I replaced the pods with Netgear extenders and everything seems to be working much better, just was hoping to have one platform.

So in summary, I probably should have listened to the Xfinity tech who told me he would not use Pods in first place, in fact he got Netgear. I think that there is an issue with how Xfinity (maybe Verizon) hands off from Cellular to Wifi when PODs are in play. Just my 2c.
