MB8600 Upsteam light flashing blue / Gigabit plan

At some point the Upstream light on my Motorola MB8600 went from solid blue to blinking blue.

I have done a few power cycles and a reset to factory settings.

As my wife and I work from home and need reliable internet access I wondered does anyone know what this indicates. FYI I have not made any cabling changes inside the house.

Thanks!

The blue light blinking indicates that the modem is attempting to negotiate DOCSIS 3.1 bonded channels.  If it is unable to bond, then it should default back to DOCSUS3.0, and turn a steady green.  I would check that all connections are tight, and that you have no more than one splitter in the feed inside your house.  IF there is a splitter, it may need to be replaced with one that can work with the frequencies necessary for DOCSIS 3.1 to operate.  If it's an older splitter, it may not be up to par.

FWIW. DOCSIS 3.0 is the original protocol for the multiple bonding of channels. DOCSIS 3.1 has the addition of the OFDM / PLC channel for the potential of up to 10 gig speeds, among other additions / improvements.

Also. DOCSIS 3.1 operates within the bandwidth of current standard 5 MHz to 1002 MHz splitters.

What do the modem's signal stats look like ? Try getting them here; http://192.168.100.1

Please copy all of the text in its entirety of the *Downstream Power Levels*, the *SNR's* (Signal to Noise Ratios), and the *Upstream Power Level* numbers and paste them into your next post.

And are you actually experiencing any connectivity problems or are you just focused on that indicator light ?
