Managing IOS14 Devices on Network

My son and all of his friends have installed iOS 14 beta on their iPhones in July,  which has a new privacy setting that changes the MAC address every 24 hours when it connects.   This privacy setting is the default setting. Now every day I get multiple new devices connecting to my network with no way to control access.  If I pause a device it only last for one day then the device generates a new MAC address and bypasses the controls. In one month the network generated a list of over new 100 devices connecting to my network and I have no idea who these devices belong to.  It is a complete nightmare.  How do we manage our networks once iOS14 becomes publically available?  Is Xfinity doing anything to help us manage this issue?

There’s nothing Comcast can do about because it’s an iOS feature. The only thing you can do is have that device and turn off the “Private Address” feature on the device for your network.

Now that you say that, they may have it, I’ll check when I return home.

I don't know if Xfinity routers have this feature, but on many routers you can set it to not allow new devices to automatically connect.  That would encourage people to turn off that feature.  (Though it does mean an extra step when you buy a new device.)

It would seem to me that you could have a feature that would authorize only predefined MAC addresses to connect based on the devices unique hardware MAC address.  That would be pain to enter all the MAC addresses of existing devices and new devices, but it would force users to turn off the privacy setting in order to connect.  I don't see that type of feature on XFi.
