Macbook cannot reach public xfinity hotspot while my iphone can

I am trying connect my macbook to "xfinity" hotspot but it seems like even though my laptop connects to the hotspot, it says "no internet connection". I have no such problem on my iphone. I was able to connect my laptop to a public xfinity hotspot last week without any issues but I can't today despite that fact that I have not made any changes to the wifi settings.
