MAC address filtering

Since apparently I can't call for help (when did that start?), I'll try this here. My printer stopped in the middle of printing and lost WiFi connection. I restarted the printer and the modem, ran diagnostic and it's popping up with a fail in MAC address filtering. This happened with my last printer and was so unresolvable that I resorted to buying a new printer. But here I am with the same problem again. I can't find anything about how to turn this off on the Xfinity website. Anyone able to help me? Thanks.

You don't mention what brand of Printer you have, and you give very little information about the error you are getting.  See if the 'fix' in this link works:

@NoNoBadPuppy Apologies, I've never used a forum anywhere before. I'm using an Epson printer, they redirected me to my Wifi service. The error I got was from my print test, it just says MAC address Filtering Check Failed when I try to connect to WiFi.

FWIW. If you are using a Comcast supplied gateway device, they do not have a MAC address filtering feature. Something else is going on.

@EG Sorry, I don't know what FWIW means. I have tried my printer company, and they redirect me to my service provider. The only error I get is about MAC address filtering. If there's something else going on, no one seems to be able to tell me what that might be.

No worries ! FWIW stands for *For What It's Worth*. Have you read the info at that link that @NoNoBadPuppy supplied ?

You don’t mention your gateway, but when I had a  xfinity rented gateway there was a section on MAC address filtering, there isn’t a tab/link to it, but it’s there, I accessed it by logging into the gateway, not thru a app, I believe it’s located under ‘connection’, I have my own equipment now so I can’t give you a exact location to it…

If they now have added a MAC address filtering feature to the firmware, unless you specifically have enabled it, it should be disabled by default.

@EG yes i agree that's the way it seemed to work, i am thinking if he didn't add it, or cant find the setting, i might reset the gateway to default settings to clear any rogue setting, if its even a Comcast gateway...

Did this problem ever get solved?  A couple of weeks ago, our Epson printer ET-2720 stopped working.  I cannot get it to connect to the wifi.  I get the failed message on the MAC address Filtering Check when I try to reconnect it to the wifi.  I restarted my router, I reset the printer for factory settings....  Dopes anyone have any advice?

Hi @user_f70034, we haven't heard back from the original poster in regards to this specific issue, so unfortunately I'm unsure the status of things. Out of curiosity, did you contact Epson regarding this yet?

Has anyone figured out how to fix this issue? I have a Epson 2720 as well and just had Xfinity internet installed at my house today and I'm having the same issue!
