Latency/Routing issues

Over the past week, latency has become a massive issue for me. I live in Missouri, and normally connect to game server in Quebec, Canada. However, when running a traceroute to the server, it's far from optimal. My connect hops to Colorado and then for some reason, to Texas, before reaching the server in Canada. The increased latency has been noticeable for every other game as well.
I have never experienced an issue like this before, and do not know how to begin troubleshooting this.
