Latency/Lag spikes while gaming

I’ve been getting high latency and ping spikes in-game making many games unplayable. This has started over the last two weeks and hasn't been issued before. I am plugged in via ethernet. Problem is intermittent, but consistent over the last week.

I tried unplugging the router for a couple minutes and plugging it back in, I tried running a speed test and everything looked good, cycled the power on the xbox, and confirmed other devices connected to the internet weren’t using up too much bandwidth.

I tried the xfinity app to diagnose, but get an error/retry message.

I am very sorry to hear about the experience with the ping and high latency. Are you experiencing this on one game only or is it multiple games? What type of device are you using? This is typically on the game servers side, and not something that would be in the control of your Internet. Are you seeing connectivity or slow connection on any other devices within the home?

It has been noticed on different games. The device is xbox series x. I have noticed drops in video streaming on other devices. Again, this is short and intermittent, so the video quality normally self corrects quickly.

Gotcha, thank you for clarifying that for us @user_9dfsce! As far as the video streams, what troubleshooting steps have you taken regarding the connection? Are you seeing this on all devices connected via Wifi or hardwired devices too?

With the Xbox X, we would recommend reaching out to them directly for troubleshooting regarding the connection to see if that can help the connection of the games. A lot of the times, it will simply be on the game sever side, and there are a lot of limitations with the troubleshooting.
