Kodak Luma 350 Projector cannot connect to xfinitywifi hotspot

Hello,

I have a Kodak Luma 350 Projector that is internet and bluetooth enabled and has worked well for me. I am now working out of a new location and am dependent on an xfinitywifi hotspot. Every device I have (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) can connect to xfinitywifi from this location. For the mobile devices, I had to download Xfinity Hotspots app and authenticate using my username/password - it all works fine.

My problem is that I cannot connect the Kodak projector to the xfinitywifi hotspot. I downloaded and installed the xfinity apps on the projector. When I try to authenticate I get the standard page that says:

"Sign in with your Xfinity ID By signing in you agree to our terms of service and privacy policy". On other devices, the space between the "ID" and "By" has a dialogue box where I can enter my username. On the projector device, there is no dialogue box, so I can't enter my credentials. I have tried calling support, but am not having success so I thought I would try this forum. The projector device runs Android 7.1.2 which is supported according to the documentation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to message us about the projector not able to connect to our xfinity wifi hotspot. I'm super glad that this hotspot works for you and is available for you to use, glad we offer this service.

Does your projector have a clear cookies and cache in it's settings option at all that you can complete to see if this helps?

@XfinityMiguel

Thanks for your post Miguel. The projector does not have an option to clear cookie or reset cache. I did reset the projector back to factory settings and did a fresh install of the Chrome browser and still have the problem I described.

The problem with the rendering of the authentication page is consistent whether I am using the packaged browser, the Chrome browser, or the Xfinity Apps.

Any other ideas? Thanks again for looking at this.

Have you by chance reached out to Kodak about this? It looks like there are restrictions on it that can make it not work on things. Are you able to use the projector to log in and not a secondary device like a cellphone? -Aaron

Thanks for your response Aaron. I have indeed reached out to Kodak. They informed me that the device should pick up and network in range that is 2.4 Ghz. The projector does pick up all networks in range except xfinitywifi. When I called Xfinity support they said that the xfinitywifi is 2.4 Ghz, but I don't see that documented anywhere.

I can connect my projector to my wifi at home - its the public hotspot xfinitywifi that I cannot connect to. I do have a help desk ticket open for this, but have not gotten a response - that ticket number is CR049209082.

Another interesting test I did was to successfully connect the projector to my home wifi and then try to authenticate myself via the hotspot app and web page. In both cases, I get the same problem where the webpage is not rendering properly. I have pasted my original explanation below:

The Xfinity wifi hotspots are as of last year all 5.0Ghz now so if your projector requires a 2.4Ghz connection, unfortunately the wifi hotspot would not work

Thanks for the information Anthony. Could you point me some official documentation that states this? Its not that I don't believe you, Its that a help desk rep told me something different and I want to make sure I have accurate information if I go back to Kodak.

Thanks in advance for your help with this.
