Kids access xfinity wifi from neighbors - INFURIATING

I have disabled my xfinity hotspot but we still have a hotspot active close enough to us.  I'm assuming from a neighbor.  This allows my kids to access the internet even when I use the XFi app to shut it all down and pause their devices.  This really ticks me off, Comcast.  What's the point of having all that control when the kids can just hop on somewhere else??  You are making life very difficult for parents all in the name of getting your tentacles out there so more and more people can log on.  It's infuriating!  I'm trying to coordinate with neighbors but the eldery one next door has no clue how to fix it without giving me their login credentials, which I don't want to ask for.  You need to just shut off this feature, please.  It's making parenting life at home very difficult and stressful to manage.  Thank you.

Credentials are required to log into the Xfinity hotspots. Are your kids set up with their own Xfinity usernames/passwords? Or are they using yours? You can manage credentials by logging into your account and clicking the Users tab at the top of the page.

Thank you for replying, Every home situation is different and simple solutions like the one you mention don't always work so simply when there are severe behavioral issues.  We try extremely hard to come up with the right solutions, and then we have to deal with an internet service provider that just wants everyone, including children, to have unfettered internet access.  I need help from Comcast please.

Sorry your kids have behavioral issues but having unfettered access to the internet and hotspots around the country is a huge benefit for many. Especially during crises

Is this Comcast’s official reply?

I completely understand the benefit of internet access to all. But, 1. not off of my device. Comcast is not paying me to broadcast over the air content out of my home, and 2. they shouldn’t create a situation where children can get uncontrolled access to the internet in my own home. Do I need to remind you of the dangers and problems that the internet creates also?

Not sure Comcast are giving unfettered access to all hotspots Andrew. Last I saw they were not giving access to the home hotspots generated by home resi gateways.

I could be wrong, not sure how they differentiate between business or strand mounted hotspots and resi gateways. Unfortunate if you live beside one of those of course.

Found the link.

(I do regard that as a good thing though).

Hi MKozsuch,

Did you figure how to prevent this? I'm now having the same issue.  Thanks!
