Just moved to a new apartment where XFINITY's 2 gig up and down plan was being offered. No ethernet, but WiFi works?
As the subject line indicates, I just moved in to a new (supposedly "internet ready") apartment complex where the 2 gig (up and down) plan was being offered. I got WiFi working (but not at the speeds I'd expect even over WiFi), but could not get ethernet to work. After an ungodly amount of back and forth and multiple calls and chat messages with several different xfinity agents, I was able to schedule a technician appointment. The technician comes here and then says that the current modem (XB7-T that was here when I moved in) was not capable of providing 2 gig speeds and that I would need an XER10 modem and that I might be able to get one in a physical store. I went to the closest location to me and they then said I'm looking for an XB10, but that they don't have those at that store and that I should call and order one. I was able to get on the phone with yet another agent that tells me that XER10 and XB10 are the same (google seems to disagree, but I've been wrong before) and that they'll need to schedule another technician to come out to install it. The agent on the phone also said that they'll raise a ticket to the regional manager (or something to that effect). I'm wondering if anyone has run into this issue? I'm about 2 weeks into living here without being provided the internet speeds I'm paying for and without access to ethernet.
