Issues with Re-Connecting My Windows 8.1 Laptop with My Gateway
Recently, my family just set up an X1 gateway for the home. It connects to all of our devices—well, mostly. When we first installed it on February 3, 2024, it worked on all of our devices, including my main laptop, an HP Pavilion 17 Notebook running on Windows 8.1. Later that night, I ended up needing to install an update for my Wacom tablet, causing me to restart my computer, and my Windows 8.1 laptop was still getting Wi-Fi from the new gateway.
Then, the next morning, I opened my laptop to check my email and discovered that I was no longer connected to my gateway. While my Windows 8.1 laptop still gets Wi-Fi from various places (that either had passwords that I didn't know or were far away to be connected to the Wi-Fi, but not getting Internet access), the Wi-Fi list no longer featured my gateway. I tried moving closer to the gateway itself, almost six feet away or so, and my laptop still didn't show it in the Wi-Fi list. The only way I seemed to get internet access from it was connecting it with an Ethernet cable. This only happens to my HP Pavilion Windows 8.1 Notebook and no other devices. My cellphone gets it, my other laptop gets it, my Kindle gets it, but not my Windows 8.1 laptop.
After doing some research, I tried accessing the gateway's admin page through the 10.0.0.1 page and noticed that my laptop was under the "Offline Devices" section, and that its connection was "Ethernet" instead of "Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz" or "Wi-Fi 5 GHz," like the devices under the "Online Devices-Private Network," which features devices connected to the gateway. When I hit the "Edit" button next to my computer's name, I can't change the "Ethernet" connection.
A few extra things I just noticed: on the "Connected Devices" page, I noticed an "Add Device with Reserved IP" button. I tried changing the "DHCP/Reserved IP" status to the latter, and even got a Reserved IP, but it didn't seem to work.
This could also be an issue with my laptop, perhaps, but it also picks up other Wi-Fis but just ignores the gateway for some reason.
Any solutions on how to get my HP Pavilion Windows 8.1 laptop back on specifically my Wi-Fi from my new gateway?

Hello, @user_59i41a. Have you checked the Xfinity Internet minimum system recommendations? For speeds up to 2 Gigabits per second Operating system Windows 10 (64-bit) or Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite or newer. You can visit the Microsoft Windows lifecycle fact sheet or Mac OS X Support overview for their latest operating system information.
