Issues with increasing ping to Valorant servers in CA

trying to figure out an issue where my ping has gone through increases to certain valorant game servers. In the past, I remember getting 25-30 ping from my home in Utah to Valorant's CA servers. Somewhere along the line, about 5-6 months ago, that jumped to 50, and then recently its jumped again to 65. After these jumps, it remains stable, just stable at the higher ping. Other xfinity customers I know in Utah experienced the same thing, whereas google fiber users in Utah see closer to 20 ping to these same game servers. At this point my ping is higher to CA than it is to TX and nearly the same to servers in IL and VA which makes no sense.

Tried different DNSs, and the usual troubleshooting. This is over a hardline ethernet, newer router and modem.

My ping to TX had been ~24 for the past 2-3 years. After Xfinity recently made scheduled changes to the network in my area, it's increased to ~38. My ping to other Valorant servers have also increased 60-80%. I'm chatting with Xfinity support and will try to share outcomes...

@bitxwise Best of luck and let me know if you get any good insights. I ended up chatting with support as well and didn't come up with a resolution - just the usual maybe its my equipment or something. Which certainly isn't the case given that multiple people I know within the Salt Lake Valley and with xfinity all experienced the exact same thing (no such increase for the lucky ones with google fiber). Plus with my particular situation, my ping to other servers has remained the same, its just the one (CA) that used to be my best at about 30 is now over 60 and my lowest is still over 50 (TX). Very frustrating.

@Trixington Unfortunately Xfinity blames my modem, even though my connectivity with other games and services have not worsened, and the increase in pings came immediately after my connectivity was restored following some scheduled downtime for "changes to improve the network in my area"

My guess is that they added an extra hop or so between me and Riot servers, which would likely appear in comparing tracert logs before and after the network change they applied recently - but of course I didn't think to capture them beforehand.
