issues connecting to league of legends.

me and a few other xfinity customers in my area have the same lag issues that all seem to be coming from the Hudson NY datacenter connecting tot he riot direct backend.

Is that the only site that lags ? Is the rest of the net o/k ? Perhaps their servers are overloaded.

@EG it is not the riot servers. i've run a traceroute and it shows an issue in hudson on a comcast connection.

i don't understand why doing this fails to connect but the game will still connect and play at all. my main assumption is its re routing to another riot direct endpoint that this doesn't do and it lags every time it retries the fastest one.

Can somebody finally get on top of this? From my research this issue has been happening for almost 8 years. I've had so many issues I'm honestly ready to completely drop Xfinity.

What troubleshooting steps have you attempted so far? Is this happening only when connected to league of legends? Are you experiencing the same issue on all of your devices?

So far tech support has ran diagnostics, rebooted my router, checked cable connections, and I personally have checked my own internet firewalls and made sure my networking is correct. I have also been sent an upgraded router, but I still have this issue at times. It's the same as my old router; doesn't happen all the time, but when it does I'm completely [EDIT: Language]

Yes, it is only with League of Legends. Speedtest.com and other tests will give me a ping of around 13, but when getting in game I will have a ping of nearly 14,000 at times. I know it can't be a host issue with Riot Games either because my friends will play with me in the same game and have no issues.

Thanks for your response, @johnjharms! It sounds like we have done some comprehensive troubleshooting. Are you renting the modem from us? Is this happening at random times or at specific times during the day?

@XfinityDilary​ Yes I am renting the modem. I am finding it usually occurs in the evening, although it could be happening at other times but I don't play then so I wouldn't know.

An interesting thing I found, however: When experiencing this issue, if I connect my phone to the wifi, then open a hotspot on my phone broadcasting that same wifi, and then connect my computer to that hotspot instead of the wifi, I don't have this issue. So to be honest, I don't even understand what is happening anymore.
