ISP Blocking Roblox Install?

Hi,

A few days ago I was installing the newest Roblox version (version-8764cc9c84a5459a) and somewhere along the line I started being unable to properly launch the game from the website. Before then I was able to play without issue. There are two errors I'm facing (which may be the same issue):

I'm currently on Windows 11 and my cable modem is a TP-Link Archer CR700. My PC is connected through an Ethernet cable directly to the modem.

Roblox will run in the background as Roblox (32 bit) or the Game client after I try to manually launch/install, but refuse to display the game launcher or do anything really.

I have tried various methods to no avail (Not in order):

  • Restarting PC
  • Restarting Router physically/Rebooting through TP-Link website
  • DNS Flushing
  • Uninstalling GeForce Experience
  • Deleting Roblox (Both Temp and Appdata files)
  • Reinstalling Roblox (Runs into DNS Resolve Error)
  • Network Reset through Windows
  • Adjusting Internet Properties (SSL, TLS according to various videos)
  • Changing DNS manually
  • Using a different browser
  • Activating a VPN (VeePN)
  • Allowing Roblox through my Firewall
  • Temporarily disabling all my firewalls
  • Deactivating Windows Defender
  • Tinkering with the modem's settings through the TP-Link Website (Parental Control is off)
  • Manually changing DNS through Network Connections control panel (IPv4) to 8 8 8 8, 8 8 4 4 (I have no idea what this is supposed to do, still doesn't work)
  • Updating Wi-Fi driver from Intel website

Notably, when I switch to my Mobile Hotspot (Verizon) I am able to properly install and play Roblox from the launcher and website. When I switch back to my Wi-Fi however it goes back to running in the background. Additionally, I downloaded Roblox for the first time on my home laptop, running on the same Wi-Fi network, and it too faced the DnsResolve error when installing. Annoyingly, the Microsoft Store version of Roblox is fully functional but is essentially unplayable if you have more than one monitor due to some dumb issues that should have been fixed a long time ago, but I digress.

This is a log I managed to dig up showcasing both the DnsResolve and direction to the PCCBootstrapperClient:

I'm really at a loss here, I've tried a bunch of methods from various videos and no dice. I'm starting to think this is some sort of higher level issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

I am having this exact same issue and have tried all the same troubleshooting steps, including the ability to connect when I use a different network. I am hoping someone has an answer!

@user_sfup1o Welcome to our Xfinity forum! Thank you for reaching out so we can make sure you're able to install the latest version of Roblox. I searched the internet and it appears that many people are having this unique issue with Windows11. It sounds like people have found a workaround by locating the launcher file to comple the installation process. Are you able to explore some Roblox forums and try the solution they have posted? Let me know if it works for you!

Hi Emily,

Today I was able to properly install and launch Roblox out of the blue, so it appears the latest Roblox update (version-f573c8cc796e4c97) has fixed whatever was going on. I did use the launcher file as I tried before but this time it did not face the DNSResolve error, I haven't touched my router at all since so I assume Roblox fixed something on their end. Thank you for the response anyways.
