Is the new XB8 modem built on DOCSIS 4.0?
While I can't find any solid specifications on the new modem. It sort of seems like it.
2 weeks ago there was a huge servicing in my area. Comcast/Xfinity trucks as far down the road as you can see. This lasted for about 2-3 days as I remember.
Then this new modem releases touting "Future Proof" and "Multi-gig speeds" about 1-2 years after news of a new DOCSIS standard coming out that would be compatible with Comcast's fiber-coax hybrid infrastructure.
What I'm hoping is that this is the case and that it would bring in much higher upload speeds over the hybrid line instead of requiring a full fiber home installation.

DOCSIS 4.0 is not yet mainstream.

Searches indicate this is a D3.1 gateway.

Everything I can find about DOCSIS 4.0 seems to indicate at least another 18 months before any devices will start showing up on the consumer level.

Hi there @ShTe, Thank you so much for reaching out to us about your questions regarding the new XB8 modem. You are in the right place and I am happy to address your concerns. Now our XB8 modem is a Docsis 3.1 cable modem and eMTA device.
Now I know that we are getting ready to release higher upload speeds to customers. Now it is not going to be available all at once to everyone. Customer that will be eligible will get notified that we will work in the area to make sure that the higher upload speeds are working good.
