Is the Netgear AX8 Modem Router Compatible with Comcast internet without an extra modem?
I just called Customer Service at Comcast to try to activate a brand new Modem Router from Netgear, the AX8 Nighthawk AX6000. Unfortunately, the employee on the phone says I need an extra modem because this equipment is only a router. In the box it says clearly that it is a Modem Router. Why will I need a modem with it? The box of the equipment says this will replace the modem and the router. Please help me clarify this.

Netgear makes an AX6000 modem/router (model CAX80, approved by Comcast) as well as an AX6000 Wifi router only (model RAX80). Which device model number do you have? The RAX80 would need a modem, the CAX80 has one built in.

It seems to be the wrong one. The one I have is CAX80 and in the box it says Modem Roter.

I have the CAX80. I live in Florida. Why will the Comcast guy tell me I need a Modem?

Maybe he confused the two models? You can look up the CAX80 at https://www.xfinity.com/support/devices.
What happens when you connect the device to the cable line?
