Is New XB8 upgrade really necessary? Plus, it's UGLY

Not really any problem, just a casual observation.

Currently using XB3 Gateway.  It's slim, I can clearly check the status of Power, Gateway Online, 2.4 GHz & 5GHz status, and Phone status.  The XB8 is an Ugly White Brick with no real indicator lights, just a small light bar at the top.  I have the 600Mbs plan and according to the Xfinity Speed Test this morning my internet download speed is currently at 705Mbs.

So, what is really to be gained but switching except for all the headaches that I have read about on this forum when people switch to the XB8 gateway?

user_21yhr7 Hello and thank you for reaching out via our Xfinity Community Forums. You've brought up some great points about the XB8 gateway, and it's totally understandable to question an upgrade, especially when your current XB3 is working perfectly and you prefer its design! The XB3 is definitely a solid gateway, and we hear you on appreciating its clear indicator lights and sleek profile. The XB8 does have a different aesthetic.

The primary advantage of the XB8 is its support for Wi-Fi 6E. This new technology uses the 6GHz band, offering more bandwidth and less interference, which can mean faster speeds and lower latency for your newest devices that also support Wi-Fi 6E. It's also built to handle multi-gigabit speeds for future plan upgrades.

If your XB3 is consistently delivering excellent speeds for your 600 Mbps plan, and you're happy with your connection, there's no immediate requirement to switch. The benefits of the XB8 are most noticeable for customers with Wi-Fi 6E compatible devices or those on our fastest multi-gig speed tiers.

Ultimately, if your current setup meets your needs, you're in a great spot! We want you to have the best experience possible with the equipment that works for you.
