Is Netgear CM3000 compatible with Xfinity Superfast 800 Mbps Internet?

I bought a Netgear CM3000 High-split modem to stay ahead of the curve. I currently have 800Mbps Xfinity internet service and when I tried to activate the modem I was told by Xfinity customer service that it is not compatible. However it is on the list of compatible devices in the 'Next Gen' category. Are devices in the 'Next Gen' category compatible with 800 Mbps or do I have to move to 1 Gbps or higher?

I activated a Netgear CM3000 modem yesterday and I'm on their 500 Mbps plan. I used the Xfinity App for activation after working with Xfinity support on Reddit to add my modem's MAC address to my account and remove my rented gateway's MAC address from my account. I was told the gateway had to be removed and my modem added before I could activate the modem. This left me with no Internet access briefly but a support person walked me through the transition. The CM3000 was in the list of modems to choose from in the Xfinity App during the activation process.

Hey there, @user_otuazz. Bypassing customer support, have you attempted to activate the modem through our Xfinity app following the steps here? The Next Gen modems are capable of achieving slower speeds, there would be no reason for them to not be backward compatible with our slower tiers.

I activated a Netgear CM3000  modem a month ago. I have the 800 Mbps plan and consitantly receive 940 Mbps downstream and 115 Mbps upstream. Works great.  I'd suggest calling support and have them check to be sure it was activated correctly.
